I am not sure if I fully understand your question paulyeatley but if you are asking me if I am in support of parties being held for young people in local venues I have no problem with that at all. Most places like the Miners Hall in Cinderford can be booked for next to nothing for private parties. Of course there would have to be some responsible person to make sure that that it does not get out of hand. My son and daughter used to love going to parties and so did I and still do!!! Of course everyone does not like the same sort of music and some of the hardcore techno is too much for me!!!

Paul – what would be better than a group of you arranging to hire canoes or canadian open canoes for a trip downstream on the River wye – perhaps between Goodrich to Symonds Yat on a summers day? Often parties stop on the shingle/pebble banks and enjoy refreahments. Certainly would help and assist.

Hello “paulyearly” do tell me if Ive got this wrong, it sounds like there is more to tell on this one. if you are saying that you cant hold a Birthday party in a particular place like a Youth Club or such like i’m a bit surprised and sad. Has somthing happened that has caused the management to ban them? With the right measures in place I dont see why you shouldnt hold functions/parties in local establishments, isnt that a part of being a young person. Please tell me more this interests me.

Well, the answer depends on what sort of parties and in what type of local establishments. I do think that village halls and other community facilities should be available to young people to have parties, but it is very difficult for young people to effectively monitor the behaviour of those attending parties. I have known several parties that have been held in the village hall of which I am a trustee that have started off with the best of intentions, but have been ruined by the behaviour of gate-crashers.
This is a case for young people to work with older adults, but I know that some young people resent what they see as interference from older adults.

The district council is responsible for a number of services such as waste collection, planning, leisure centres and housing, but unfortunately not for holding parties! We do, however, help to fund youth groups such as the youth forum, so perhaps you should ask them?
