I was lucky enough to be able to choose an elephant and this lovely gentle female knelt down so that I could climb onto the howdah a sort of large chair strapped to the elephant. The mahout a person who lives with the elephant,usually all his life’ the mahouts are very proud of their elephants and take great care of them and love them,When you are ontop the elephant gets up and that is very scary you get rocked backwards and then you realise how high you are.After work the elephants are taken to the river for a bath and anyone there gets a shower.
