I moved to the Forest in August 1975 so that makes it 35 years. When I moved here to take up a job at Double View School (Now Heywood) I thought I would be here for about five years, but I just loved the place.
I was born minutes before 1100 on the 11th of the 11th a long ttme ago here in the Forest at Ruardean – the year was when Edward 8th abdicated. Apart from a period in the army I lived in Gloucester and worked at Impregnated Diamonds Products Gloucester as a Development Engineer. When my daughters Tina and Lynne were close to school age we decided to move back to the Forest and have been here ever since.
I was born at the Dilke hospital in the year that Queen Elizabeth was crowned queen–that is why my full name is Elizabeth Diana.!!! I grew up in Ruardean and except for me and my late husband going to university I have always lived in the Forest as I love it so much.
